” I will respond to you when I hand over to you” – President Buhari to Shettima

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has told the running mate of Tinubu, former Governor of Borno state, Senator Kazim Shettima, that he will respond to him when handing over office to him and his boss come 2023.

Buhari was responding to a flowery speech by senator Shettima, and the presidents statement was signed by the presidents aide on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

Regardless of the opposition in taking same religion candidate for presidential and vice presidential role, Shettima was picked as running mate to Tinubu as APC’s vice presidential candidate which brought about controversies.

In the statement, Buhari mentioned that he is strongly optimistic that Tinubu will win the coming election. He also commended Shettima n his work in Borno State and his consistency in the party.

“I will respond to your speech when I am handing over to you and your boss. God willing, you are going to win

“I wish you the best. Your consistency in the party is very respectful. You served your two terms as Governor and finished well.

“You have kept touch with your base. At every important occasion or event, you are maintaining support for the one who succeeded you. This is commendable.” Buhari said.

While some people feel like, competency is key and the focus on picking a vice presidential candidate, others believe that Nigeria does not need a same religion presidency.
