PDP owes Nigerians an apology – Wike

Wike

Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers state has said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) owes Nigerians an apology over the controversial statement of PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku.

Earlier on Sunday, Atiku stated that what the north needs is not a Yoruba or Igbo leader as president but Him as he considers himself as most worthy.

The statement already started garnering reactions as many considered the statement to instigate national disunity.

“I know the whole of this country. I have built bridges across this country. I think what the average northerner needs is somebody who is from the north, who also understands the other parts of Nigeria, and who has been able to build bridges across the rest of the country.

“This is what the northerner needs. He (the northerner) doesn’t need a Yoruba candidate or an Igbo candidate. This is what the northerner needs. I stand before you as a pan-Nigerian of northern origin,” Atiku stated.

Reacting to the above, Governor Wike expressed doubts that such a statement could come out of Atiku, and advised the party to urgently address the issue and appeal to the NIgerian’s else people begin to see the party as one where equity does not abound.
