Russia-Ukraine War: Hope for Nigerian students stranded in Sumy – Minister for Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama

The federal government on Sunday said it has gotten the approval of the Ukrainian government to evacuate Nigerian students and other citizens from Sumy, beginning from today March 6th, 2022

This was stated by the Minister for foreign affairs on his Twitter handle.

Onyeama said his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, assured that Ukraine would establish a humanitarian corridor and authorize evacuation of the Nigerian students.

Many students, including Nigerians, are still trapped in Sumy State University in the midst of the Ukraine – Russia war and these students have been appealing for help to evacuate.

Some students complained that every day they pass through mental trauma from waking up with the sound of bombs to unnecessary runnings even at the slight sound of a door closing and all they want to do is come back home to Nigeria.
