The Academic Staff Union of Universities Gombe branch has ordered its members not to submit their results for the 2021/2022 session as a results of their salaries not being paid.
In a statement on Tuesday, 4th November 2022, which was signed y the chairperson of Gombe branch, Suleiman Salihu Jauro and the branch secretary, Mohammed Garba Ndogu, the statement read that academics should be suspended as well as supervision of both undergraduate and postgraduate projects allocated prior to the commencement of the strike action.
It has also been reported that ASUU is set to summon an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) as part of a way to address the issue.
The meeting however, has not been given a specific date on paper, but it is likely that another strike could be called as a result of the meeting.
“Half salaries were paid, no reasons were given whatsoever,”
“We learnt that Ngige wrote the office of the Accountant General and Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system and told them to only pay us for the period when we called off the strike.
“We heard there was a letter to that effect but we haven’t gotten it yet. We are going to summon a meeting.” ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke said
